Invisalign 101: Clear Aligners and Teeth Straightening

The Invisalign process looks like this:

1 – Initial Consultation

One of our dentists will discuss aligners and go through a short, basic assessment to see if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign.

2 – Digital Impressions

If all is good and you decide to begin, then we’ll do a digital scan of your mouth and create a personalized treatment plan. You’ll get to see how Invisalign works and the outcomes. We’ll also take photos and x-rays to send off to the Invisalign lab.

3 – Fitting

We’ll do a fitting session once the custom-fitted trays arrive at our office. We’ll make any necessary micro-adjustments but otherwise you’re good to go from here! You’ll receive a new set of trays every few weeks as your teeth adjust.

4 – Follow-Ups

We’ll schedule follow-up visits to check the progress. We can make further adjustments and refinements as needed; it’s also a good time to share your experience with our team so we can be sure you’re comfortable and happy with the treatment.

5 – Results and Maintenance

You did it! You’ve reached the end of the smile transformation. We’ll set you up with a retainer, which we recommend you wear afterward to keep your smile looking its best.

Is Invisalign Right for Me?

Invisalign® services can benefit a wide range of patients, from teenagers to adults, who wish to improve their smiles without the inconveniences associated with metal braces. Patients with overbites, underbites, crossbites, gap teeth, open bites, and crowded teeth can all find solutions with Invisalign.

Not everyone is a candidate, though.

Invisalign isn’t the right fit if a patient has severe orthodontic issues and dental conditions. Issues like cavities and gum disease need to be addressed before starting treatment. Likewise, missing teeth, implants, crowns, and fillings can pose a problem. If you’re a smoker or the non-committal type then Invisalign isn’t quite right, too.
